![]() ![]() One of the points in that quest is that Old Dax isn't the first of a line. And yes, I also believe that rejected warframes that didn't meet Orokin standards do exist too. I personally think it is possible to add new umbras without messing with the lore, and I just wish to point out that even though those original 8 frames were the first frames to be playable in the game doesn't necessarily mean that they were the first ones created in the lore - just Excalibur. The reason why I went with the strict "original 8 only" path was mostly to limit the number of possible umbras in case they do take this route. Hope you understand, otherwise agree to disagree. Had this debate seemingly forever ago when Umbra came out and have the same opinion then as I do now. Umbra Forma fits the void to 'make your frame umbra' without breaking lore and without complicating things. Trying to add more Umbras in any form is just going to muddy the waters and make it more difficult in the future for various things, without the need or any real benefit. Umbra Excalibur is an excellent adaptation and concept and a brilliant way to give us "prime Excal" without breaking contract and promises to the founders and that's it. Maybe there were certain frames created 'before the original 8' that we didn't have access to because we weren't powerful enough? Just a rough random example but I hope you get my point. ![]() That's the issue I spoke of - it makes the lore messy for no reason, because now it limits future tweaks of the lore. I say there should be no more than eight - Excal Umbra included, with the other seven being the remaining frames that were a part of Warframes original lineup. If DE is to add new umbras, there should be a very strict limit in how many there should be. I'm not sure if that really counts as a side grade. What I meant is that when you build one and it just gets added on to the existing base or prime frame via valence fusion or something like that (probably with prime only because primes can't be fed to helminth). It'll just open a can of worms that doesn't need to be. Originally posted by _ALuX_:If they do add new umbras, it should act like an upgrade that doesn't make your existing prime redundant. However, they passed that chance (and I'm fine with that, Valkyr's story is fine on it's own). All the torture that the normal Valkyr went through under Alad V - makes sense if it was the same suffering/background of an Umbra. The only Umbra that I could think of that makes sense, is Valkyr. If players want an Umbra frame we have Umbra Excalibur, if they want to make any other frame an "umbra" they can add some umbra forma to it. So to redesign a 'new version' of them with umbra background in mind is just an unnecessary hurdle that doesn't need to be. The issue with creating Umbra versions of current Warframes is the fact that many warframes already overlap each other in abilities and roles and hold similar functions. Comparable in power/scale but does something else with similar abilities. I think what you mean is what's called a Side-grade. If they do add new umbras, it should act like an upgrade that doesn't make your existing prime redundant.Ĭlarification: they don't add them as separate frames. Umbra'ing all the frames just defeats the purpose of Primes, and you can technically "umbra" frames anyways with Umbra Forma - so wish granted. This is the only reason Umbra Excal exists - as a way of giving out "Excal Prime" without violating their "promise" of not making Excal Prime accessible to non beginning supporters. ![]()
